Blazing Sunset

This is Colin Thomas’s view of the McNaught comet from Western Australia last night. Sunset is almost upon us, and I am hoping to run outside right now with my nephew to take a look tonight. The cloud might obscure the view, but let’s give it a go. We have a small toy 180x telescope with us.

    Hi Kea,

a pair of binoculars – ANY kind – would be better than a telescope, especially if it has high power. If you are stuck with that, use it at the lowest possible power.

Good luck, and let us northerners know.

    Cheers,
    T.

Hi guys! Unfortunately the view from Sydney isn’t the best. There was cloud hanging over the hills. We only saw the faint glow of the comet through a gap in the clouds – with the naked eye, which is cool! We didn’t worry about the ‘telescope’, Tommaso!
