David’s No DE

As promised, David Wiltshire’s long awaited No DE cosmology paper is coming out. This arxiv link should work tomorrow. A poor person here was heard complaining that someone was hogging the printer to print a book. But don’t worry, it’s only a 72 page paper.

    I await it with bated breath. Meanwhile, I typed up the latest news on non Hermitian primitive idempotents and the masses of the leptons here.

    The next step is to get the program to test its conversion algorithm from complex to projection operator multiplication.

    Gee thanks, Carl. That’s a handy link. It takes some effort to keep typing things up! I am going to think about these new idempotents.

    72 pages is quite a mouthful. From the little I have read it appears to be a form of modified gravity, which is the most popular way of elimintaing DE. One questions the wisdom of naming anything “cosmic variance.” Must read the whole thing soon.

    Louise, I found this paper very simplifying and convincing. He doesn’t modify gravity at all. What he’s doing is removing a simplifying assumption about time; he’s putting back in the fact that time in voids should tick by more quickly than in gravitationally bound places like galaxies.

    Wiltshire has a remarkable set of papers and I can see why Marni would choose him for advisor.

    Hi guys! You are right, Carl. He does not modify gravity. And it is a very convincing argument that the standard thinking is completely wrong.

    Of course, Louise’s ideas are much better developed – and it would take a WMAP team to properly check WMAP data – so I am curious to see what Louise thinks of the details. There are some notable similarities between the two cosmologies – in particular the employment of a Machian principle and the prominent role of the voids (Black Holes). David does admit that his concept of quasilocal gravitational energy is not well developed.
