Trails and Triality

This little hill is a popular walk for humans near a town down south. Of course I stole the photo from one of them. The humans provide much entertainment for us keas.

On his octonion webpages John Baez discusses triality, namely non-degenerate triple maps t(u,v,w) into the reals. These are closely associated with the division algebras. When the triple takes the form (vector, L spinor, R spinor), each of which is acted upon by Spin(8), triality takes on a physical significance. The Dynkin diagram for Spin(8) looks like a trivalent vertex (4 nodes). In M-theory one also considers open and closed string vertices.

Many people seem to think I’ve gone completely crazy. Cool! Something happening. Make sure to look out for Carl Brannen’s upcoming paper on the derivation of the lepton masses! And remember: what can be said in a line is not always trivial.

Thanks for these links Kea, they are quite useful. Apparently your brain has been working overtime!!! Isn’t it wonderful to learn new things everyday? I thank you for sharing them, as they provide new insight into the world of mathphysics.

    Hi kea,

No I don’t think you are going mad.
But not all concepts are an open book or logical to all of us, at least not all the time.
Exploring is good, one should always explore new heights, new depths even new dimensions, how else do we accumulate knowledge, insight or experiences & thrills.
But I guess it always helps if one is going to teach French, that one have a certain degree of written or spoken fluency on the subject.
The Internet & blogosphere is an open university of thoughts and ideas, and wasn’t Australia the pioneer or motherland of long distance learning.

When blogging we all have to decide

    1) Whether we are running a fun blog to attract lots of comments
    2) or a topic specific blog to attract topic specific comments
    3) In topic specificity, we may keep it approachable or open to general interest, or we may aspire to go yo a higher level, but not be interesting enough to attract the attention of the Maths Masters’ of The Universe

    or Cosmology Masters
    or Rock Climbing Masters
    or Deep sea diving Masters
    or Rocket Science Masters
    or Geology & Geophysics Masters

The Main thing is to be happy where one is in blogosphere, to visit other blogs, promote interaction and enjoy the journey

    So, have a nice day!

Uh oh. Yet more pressure to produce. Well it is coming along. The first chapter is almost done and I’ll put it up a chapter at a time.

By the way, the “Bran” is a type of bird, the raven, the trouble maker of the British isles. And anyone who spends time with birds running around loose (rather than in cages) knows why they will drop your shoes over a cliff.

    Hi Everyone!
I just worked out how to turn off comment moderation. Silly me!
